ByLine November Novel Challenge 2026

Write toward a novel in November. This challenge runs from November 1 through November 30, Pacific time. The default aim is 50,000 fresh words. You may set a different goal. Only words you keep on the desk during the month count, not a manuscript you paste in on the first day.

The window is November 1–30, 2026, America/Los_Angeles. Fresh words only. Each day counts the words you add that day, up to the site cap. Pick one or more of your works. Any kind of piece can count until an editor narrows that. You can join before November 1 or on any day during the month. The public page shows totals, a word leaderboard, and streaks. Hide your name from those boards in your profile if you want a quiet month. Everyone who reaches their own goal is listed as a finisher and can download a certificate.
