Terms

These terms describe the ByLine desk. They are a plain-language draft to review with counsel. They are not a finished legal agreement.

Your work

You keep the copyright in what you write. You give ByLine permission to store it and to show it to the people allowed by the privacy you pick: only you, signed-in writers, or everyone. You can unpublish or delete a piece. Deleting removes it from the desk, including a contest entry that pointed at it.

Accounts

Use an email you can verify. Do not post someone else’s private pages. Editors can deactivate an account that is harming the desk. Passwords from any older ByLine site are not carried over. Set a new one.

Contests

A contest on this board is a place to submit one published piece during the open dates. There is no prize, payment, or judging workflow. Entering does not transfer your copyright.
